TrueCar Announces TrueBuzz Ratings for North American International Auto Show Debuts

Website Rates Detroit's Hottest Debuts and Provides Early Look at Potential Discounts; 2010 Ford Focus Receives Highest TrueBuzz(SM) Rating

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwire - January 15, 2010) - Off the heels of a very successful North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Preview, TrueCar (, the authority on new car pricing, is announcing its TrueBuzz ratings on the hottest vehicle debuts in Detroit. The ratings will be accompanied by a projected percentage discount from MSRP, six months after retail release.

"Every year we see a handful of new and redesigned models join the marketplace long after debuting at the Detroit Auto Show," said Jesse Toprak, VP of Industry, Trends and Insights. "TrueBuzz aims to measure how hot these models really are for consumers who can't make it to Detroit and, just as importantly, what kind of discounts they can expect to see shortly after these vehicles hit the market."

TrueBuzz is a ratings system that gauges consumer interest in a new vehicle (either redesigned or all new). The ratings demonstrate how desirable the vehicle is to consumers based on site traffic, key automotive media coverage, blog postings, dealership feedback (preorders) and consumer feedback. The TrueBuzz ratings are only available for production vehicles, as TrueCar believes that all concepts have an inflated interest level. Vehicles are awarded between zero and four stars.

TrueCar bases the projected discount calculations on several factors, including historical pricing for same or similar models, the category of vehicle, dealership preorder data, the production forecast and projected incentive spending for this specific vehicle. Projections are for six months after full retail distribution to eliminate the early adapter factor. Most of these vehicles are expected to initially sell near MSRP (or at times higher) for at least the first month in retail.

Some of the vehicles in the initial TrueBuzz ratings include the 2010 Ford Focus, the 2010 BMW Z4 and the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. We invite you to read TrueCar's official blog for the full report.
