TRUSTe Executive Director Fran Maier to Discuss Cross-Border Personal Data at Summer Privacy Symposium

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 14, 2007) - Today, nonprofit consumer privacy organization TRUSTe, announced that Executive Director Fran Maier will present during the Summer Privacy Symposium, to be held August 21-24, 2007 at the Charles Hotel and Harvard Faculty Club in Cambridge, MA.

The Privacy Symposium addresses a number of key national and international privacy policy issues and presents industry-specific hypothetical case studies. A wide variety of noted experts in the field will convene, with the unified goal of developing and sharing thoughtful and practical approaches to privacy and security policies and procedures.

Fran Maier's session, "Self-Regulatory Approaches to Cross-Border Transfers of Personal Data - The APEC Experience," will be held on Day 2 of the event, Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. on Track II B: Global Privacy Policy. Fran will address the development of rules and guiding principles for cross-border privacy in the APEC economies, and how trustmarks can act as accountability agents for implementation through certification and enforcement.
