TRUSTe Now Certifying Data Management and Privacy Practices in the Cloud

TRUSTed Cloud Solution Addresses Critical Need; Certifies Over 100 Leading Cloud Applications in Less Than Three Months

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 29, 2011) - Today, on the eve of Dreamforce 2011, the cloud computing industry event of the year, TRUSTe, the leading online privacy solutions provider, announced that TRUSTed Cloud, the first online data privacy certification service for B2B cloud, SaaS and other service providers, has achieved significant market traction with more than 100 platforms certified since its initial availability just three months ago. TRUSTed Cloud Data Privacy Certification allows cloud, SaaS and other online service providers to immediately show that they adhere to TRUSTe's high privacy standards of transparency, choice and accountability when handling sensitive user data on behalf of their customers.

Additionally, Google has selected TRUSTe to certify the data privacy practices for hundreds of cloud-based applications in the Google Apps Marketplace.

In a June 2011 report titled "Worldwide and Regional Public IT Cloud Services 2011-2015 Forecast," IDC says that cloud computing will continue to reshape the IT landscape over the next five years, with public IT cloud services spending expected to reach $72.9 billion in 2015, compared with $21.5 billion in 2010. Expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27.6 percent, spending for public IT cloud services is growing at more than four times the rate of the worldwide IT market as a whole, according to IDC.
