TruStone Financial to Collect School Supplies for Kids In Need

PLYMOUTH, MN--(Marketwire - Aug 3, 2011) - TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union is asking Twin Cities communities and businesses to help collect school supplies for children in grades K-12.

August 3 through Wednesday, August 24, TruStone Financial will be collecting school supplies for their annual School Express program. The credit union is asking people to bring donations of new school supplies to any TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union location throughout the Twin Cities and St. Cloud. TruStone will then work with Kids In Need Foundation to distribute supplies to schools and teachers in need.

Formerly Teacher Federal Credit Union, TruStone Financial is a community-based credit union with a history of serving school employees since 1939. The credit union continues to serve the school employees as well as anyone within the community.

"Having the right school supplies allows students to keep up with their peers, focus on learning, fit in socially, and have the same experiences as their classmates," TruStone Financial Chief Executive Officer Tim Bosiacki stated. "At the beginning of the school year many students don't have the necessary supplies, which can result in passing the burden onto the teachers and schools. With the increased need for supplies, schools and teachers have a hard time meeting those needs and often spend money out of their own pocket. TruStone would like to help ease that burden by collecting as many school supplies and monetary donations as possible in August."

TruStone has also partnered with Sea Life Minnesota to provide free child passes in exchange for donations of school supplies, while supplies last.

For those unable to shop this year, but who still want to help, monetary donations to TruStone's School Express can be made at any branch location or via telephone for existing membership.
