TSA Names Acting Federal Security Director for Syracuse Hancock International Airport

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - November 23, 2007) - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today named Daniel E. Liddell as the acting federal security director (FSD) for Syracuse (N.Y.) Hancock International Airport (SYR). Liddell has been the assistant federal security director there since the rollout in 2002. As acting FSD he oversees all TSA operations at Syracuse Hancock and spoke operations at Binghamton, Ithaca, Watertown, Ogdensburg, Massena and Rome airports, all in New York.

"Daniel's track record indicates that he will provide appropriate leadership in the interim until an FSD is selected," said Mo McGowan, assistant administrator for Security Operations.

Liddell, a native of Central New York, developed, designed and was responsible for the SYR Operations Center, which is the communication and coordination center for TSA operations in Central New York. Prior to joining TSA, he was with the United States Marine Corps for 22 years. His many assignments included commanding an Infantry Battalion in Kaneohe, Hawaii, and being operations officer at the Marine Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C.

Liddell graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Labor Studies. Additionally, he holds a Master of Management (with distinction) from Webster University and a Master of National Security and Strategic Studies (with honors) from the Naval War College.
