TSIA Shares Highlights from Professional Services Project Performance Study

Special study focuses solely on project performance and "the art of possible" for PS leaders seeking to understand project KPIs and benchmarks

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - November 23, 2016) - The Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA), the leading association for today's technology services organizations, has issued a new report titled "2016 Professional Services Project Performance Study Summary," co-authored by James Cho, director of research, Professional Services and Operational Best Practices, and Bo Di Muccio, vice president of research, Professional Services. This report summarizes the findings from the TSIA 2016 Professional Services Project Performance Multi-Member Study, a follow-up to five previous studies on project performance.

The full results of this report are available only to survey participants and subscribers, however this summary brings some of the key findings and benchmarks to the entire TSIA Professional Services membership. This study's purpose is to:

  • Increase familiarity with TSIA's project performance data set.
  • Propose a set of benchmark metrics that companies can use to gauge the performance of their projects.
  • Present data of key project variables to assess their impact on standard measures of project performance.
  • Re-test an ongoing hypothesis about the benefits of PMOs.
  • Create a discussion around which project KPIs are most useful.

"Our core PS benchmark study, in existence and collecting data since 2005, offers TSIA members the ability to understand how their project performance compares to industry benchmarks. However, understanding our members' needs for far deeper, more detailed project performance benchmarks, we launched a period special study focused solely on project performance," state authors Cho and Di Muccio. "For this readout, TSIA has compiled the largest single project performance data set to date."
