TTC: Spare the Air and Pay a Fare Use Public Transit on Car Free Day

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 19, 2007) - Tomorrow is Car Free Day in the City of Toronto, and the TTC encourages people to help the environment, by leaving the car at home and taking the TTC.

Visit Car Free Day festivities at Yonge-Dundas Square, and check out a bike rack equipped TTC bus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Remember:

- One bus takes 45 cars off the road

- One CLRV streetcar takes 60 cars off the road

- One six-car subway train takes 900 cars off the road

(Figures are based on TTC loading standards for each mode divided by a.m. rush average automobile occupancy (1.20) for inbound trips into the downtown core)
