TuneUp Software Delivers Comprehensive, Fast and Simple PC Optimization With TuneUp Utilities 2009
Enhanced Functionality Provides a Customized, Professional Windows Maintenance Experience
BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 15, 2008) - TuneUp Software announced today the availability
of TuneUp Utilities 2009, the latest version of its award-winning series of
PC optimization software. The new version of TuneUp Utilities provides
Windows users, whether novice or expert, with a comprehensive suite of
optimization and maintenance software tools to ensure their computers
remain healthy and fast. TuneUp Utilities 2009 supports Windows XP and
Windows Vista (both 32- and 64-bit versions) and automatically adapts its
functions for the respective operating system.
Unlike conventional tuning tools that only offer static optimization
techniques, TuneUp Utilities 2009 takes an intelligent approach, analyzing
the configuration of individual PCs to determine the best tuning measures
to perform based on the user's specific requirements.
TuneUp Utilities 2009 enables users to optimize their PC in a way that
would otherwise require a high level of effort and extensive technical
expertise. As well as carrying out routine tasks, users can also benefit
from the extensive expert know-how that is integrated into the software.
In the latest version, the developers have focused on making it possible
for users to optimize PCs with minimal effort, while maintaining complete
control over any system interventions. Based on the individual analysis of
the PC and the configuration parameters selected by the user, TuneUp
Utilities 2009 will perform only those measures that are sensible and safe
for the system. Even faulty configurations caused by excessive tuning
attempts by other tools or manual interventions can be detected and
rectified.
New additions to TuneUp Utilities 2009 include:
New Start Page: The core of TuneUp Utilities 2009, the new Start Page
provides 'at-a-glance' information about important computer system
settings, automatically highlights trouble spots and offers quick options
that can be executed directly to solve them.
Selective optimization with TuneUp Speed Optimizer: The new TuneUp Speed
Optimizer analyzes the settings of the operating system, installed
applications and hardware, as well as the user's patterns of use. Using
this analysis, the TuneUp Speed Optimizer determines the optimization
potential of each individual PC. The "Quick Optimization" option lists and
explains all measures for optimizing the system's performance that can be
performed without limiting the functionality of the computer. The user can
then either execute all of the measures with a single click of the mouse or
individually initiate each one. The additional "Performance Advisor" offers
suggestions for further acceleration of the system, clearly explaining the
possible courses of action, as well as their effects. This prevents the
optimization from being static and inaccurate.
Enhanced TuneUp StartUp Manager: The expanded TuneUp StartUp Manager shows
which programs are automatically started when the computer is turned on.
TuneUp StartUp Manager includes a database that is continuously updated by
TuneUp's computing experts with useful information on what each program is,
and whether it can be turned off safely.
TuneUp Uninstall Manager: TuneUp Uninstall Manager has been completely
redeveloped. The list of all installed applications on the computer is now
populated much faster and can be sorted by each application's size, latest
access date, or date of installation. It also displays information about
usage history, enabling the user to easily remove any applications that are
no longer needed.
A sharp look with TuneUp Styler: TuneUp Styler enables users to adapt the
icons, visual style, boot screen and logon screen, as well as making it
possible to replace the animated Vista startup logo that appears just
before logging on. Users can either create their own startup logos or
download a series of creative animations from the TuneUp website using
TuneUp Styler. The new version of the module even makes it possible for
users to design Vista's logon screen by themselves.
Supported Windows versions
The software supports Windows XP and Windows Vista (both 32- and 64-bit
versions) automatically adapting its functions to the respective operating
system. This gives Windows XP users the security of knowing that they can
continue to use the software without any functional restrictions or the
need to pay for an upgrade if they switch to Windows Vista.
Price and availability
TuneUp Utilities 2009 can be purchased for $49.95 via download at
www.tune-up.com. Users of previous versions of TuneUp Utilities can
upgrade to this latest version for a discounted price of $29.95. A 30-day

About TuneUp
TuneUp, based in Darmstadt, makes it possible for Windows users to
fine-tune their PCs for optimum performance. PCs that are maintained using
TuneUp Utilities are less cluttered, and are proven to work faster and be
more stable.
The success story began eleven years ago when TuneUp founders Tibor
Schiemann and Christoph Laumann developed Germany's first complete package
for the optimization of Windows PCs. The program was called "TuneUp 97 -
the intelligent tuning tool." Back then, the TuneUp founders considered
"intelligent tuning" to be the effective optimization of PCs that takes
care of as many of the necessary steps as possible for the user.
Since 2003, TuneUp has been expanding internationally. TuneUp Utilities has
sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, and is now available in
English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Polish. End users can
find TuneUp Utilities directly on the company's home page
(www.tune-up.com).
