TurboSonic Announces Order for Conductive Composite WESP

Proprietary New Material Cuts Cost of Expensive Alloys by More Than 50%

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 6, 2011) - TurboSonic Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:TSTA), a global provider of clean air technologies, today announced receipt of an order valued at approximately $650,000 for a SonicKleen™ Wet Electrostatic Precipitator (WESP) using its new conductive composite material, SonicCharge™ CCM. The WESP will be used to control emissions from an agribusiness acid hydrolysis process. The contract is scheduled for completion during the current fiscal year.

The SonicKleen™ WESP, which is the most advanced wet electrostatic precipitator design on the market, is used to control fine particulate, condensable particulate matter and acid mist emissions from industrial processes and power generation.

SonicCharge™ CCM is a new, proprietary material developed by TurboSonic for use in corrosive applications. SonicCharge™ CCM has demonstrated superior performance against the high cost alloys that it was designed to replace, at a cost competitive with lower grade stainless steels. It is also superior to the alternative non-metallic materials on the market today; PVC and polypropylene are unable to withstand arcing and sparking present in WESPs, thus leaving the material susceptible to failure. SonicCharge™ CCM even outperformed stainless steel under sustained electrical arcing.

SonicCharge™ CCM was introduced at the 12th International Conference on Electrostatic Precipitation in Nuremberg, Germany in May 2011. Multiple patents are pending.

The market for SonicCharge™ CCM use in WESPs is extensive for all corrosive applications, ranging from acid plants on metallurgical smelters to utility coal-fired power generation. The total market for WESPs worldwide is estimated by the McIlvaine Company at $685 million in 2011, increasing to $806 million by 2013.

Edward Spink, TurboSonic CEO, stated, "We are very pleased with this order for the first commercial SonicCharge™ CCM-based SonicKleen™ WESP. Through significant investment in product development, we have established the SonicKleen™ WESP as the leading product in the industry for low maintenance and reliability and now our new SonicCharge™ material enables us to complete an all around superior offering with improved corrosion resistance, spark and arc resistance at a reduced cost. We believe that SonicCharge™ CCM will provide an attractive price advantage while maintaining superior performance for the most demanding applications. We are particularly enthused by what we perceive to be the significant market opportunity for SonicCharge™ CCM."
