Turner Donates More Than 10,000 Pounds of Canned Goods to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey

SOMERSET, NJ--(Marketwire - March 4, 2009) - Today, Turner Construction Company presented the Community FoodBank of New Jersey with a $3,200 check to accompany a 10,000 pound canned good donation collected by Turner employees during the holiday season.

"This event is a great example of Turner's dedication to the communities we serve. We originally set a collection goal of 1,700 pounds of canned goods and we were thrilled when our employee donations totaled more than 10,000 pounds. This was truly an amazing feat and we are very proud to make this contribution to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey," said Dexter Hendricks, Community Affairs Director for Turner's New Jersey office.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey stores and distributes over 21 million pounds of food annually. Through hard work and generosity of their volunteers, they assist over 750,000 low income people in New Jersey. In addition to feeding New Jersey residents, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey encompasses several other programs designed to assist the public. Some of those programs include Kids Closet, Thrift Shop, Tools 4 Schools and the BackPack Program.

"The incredible food and monetary donation from Turner Construction Company reached the Community Food Bank of New Jersey as the demand for food was climbing at an unprecedented rate," said Tim Vogel, Food Sourcing Director of the Community FoodBank. "Their 'just in time' donation has gone a long way in helping those in need. We are extremely grateful to you for your commitment to help fight hunger and poverty and we look forward to building our partnership."

"Together, Turner and the Community FoodBank of New Jersey are working to form a sound alliance with the same definitive goal in mind, to create a community where hunger and poverty are extinct," said Tom Reilly, Vice President and General Manger of Turner's New Jersey operations.
