TUV SUD Offers Field Evaluation Services for Medical Electrical Equipment

PEABODY, MA--(Marketwired - July 08, 2016) - Companies that import single or small numbers of medical electrical equipment (MEE) or medical electric systems (MES) into the Canadian market can now utilize the fast and efficient, SCC accredited, field evaluation services of TÜV SÜD. To avoid delays in the utilization of new systems that were not previously certified, a special inspection at the facility can be arranged to demonstrate compliance to CSA Model Code SPE-3000, a new standard for MEE and MES approval.

Throughout Canada the use of unlisted / unlabelled equipment to be installed or used at manufacturing or commercial sites is not allowed. In many cases, manufacturers utilizing equipment in conflict with federal, provincial, or municipal legislation may be fined and/or not be allowed to energize their equipment by the local electrical inspectors. A prompt resolution is required in order to prevent monetary losses and an evaluation to CSA Model Code SPE-3000 is just such an option. The Model Code addresses the minimum requirements for safety including essential construction, marking and test requirements prior to on-site labelling.

"Our staff is well versed in field evaluations and sensitive to the need for a prompt turnaround," states Steven Lee of TÜV SÜD. "Experienced staff are deployed quickly and experience plays a crucial role evaluating the system correctly and getting the customer back online".

TÜV SÜD provides field evaluations and labelling services for the electrical safety of machinery, medical devices, IT equipment, laboratory test and measurement equipment, complete systems and assemblies, as well as most other types of equipment in most jurisdictions throughout the United States and Canada. We have fully qualified and competent staff with the necessary experience to conduct field evaluations to appropriate standards. When equipment is off-line due to non-conformance speed is of the essence and that is where a relationship with an experienced authority like TÜV SÜD can make all the difference.
