TV Globo Enhances 2011 Football Coverage With Real-Time Player Tracking From Sports Information and Technology Leader STATS

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL and NORTHBROOK, IL--(Marketwire - January 10, 2011) - STATS LLC, the world's leading sports technology, information and content provider, announced today an agreement with TV Globo, the leading Brazilian broadcaster, to provide its unprecedented player tracking technology within TV Globo's coverage of the Campeonatos Carioca and Paulista this January, as well as Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in May.

TV Globo's football broadcasts will feature enhanced data graphics developed and implemented via STATS' SportVU player tracking technology. SportVU provides ground-breaking match content and insights including team and player possession stats, player run comparisons (measures the distances and pace run by individual players) and player heat maps (illustrates the areas of the pitch where individual players spent most time). TV Globo will also use new SportVU tracking features that power 3D graphics, using various third party software providers, to create 360 degrees scenes for instant replay and analysis.

"STATS' SportVU was selected because of its accurate player tracking data, its ability to provide football tracking data in real-time, for in-game and post-game applications, and its capability to operate in smaller stadiums as well as high end venues. On top of that, the two companies will collaborate to provide continuous evolution to the product," said José Manuel Mariño of TV Globo. "This breakthrough is an important milestone as TV Globo begins planning for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics."

STATS CEO Gary Walrath commented further: "As a global leader, TV Globo sits at the forefront of broadcast technology. STATS is extremely pleased to be introducing our player tracking technology to their viewers. The Brazilian market is changing, detailed statistical information is getting more and more popular and the end consumer will be looking for player tracking data as it become the world's standard."

STATS' SportVU technology collects real-time motion and positioning (X, Y) data for every player and referee on the field, as well as the ball. All aspects of the data collection process are completely non-intrusive to game action. SportVU will be fully integrated with Globo's various graphics solutions for easy output within the live broadcast.

In addition to real-time broadcast graphics, SportVU provides innovative opportunities in replay and post-game effects, full-scene animations and web and mobile applications. SportVU's engaging content provides the unique real estate that attracts new sponsors and brands across a multi-platform approach.

Over the past year, STATS' dynamic tracking technology has been utilized across the globe by industry leaders such as ESPN (MLS Cup), FOX Sports Australia (A-League Grand Final), the Asian Football Confederation and UEFA Champions League.
