TV Host Takes Humanitarian Turn

Award-Winning Sportscaster James Duthie Teams up With CCFC to Help Beat Poverty in Developing Countries

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - September 17, 2014) - For many Canadians, James Duthie is a household name. Host of the award-winning Hockey on TSN, he is among the most talented stars in sports broadcasting today. Inspired by the work of Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC) to address the needs of impoverished children and youth around the world, Duthie can now add charity Ambassador to his playbook.

Duthie recently took on the role of CCFC volunteer Ambassador, lending his voice for the cause of helping children. In so doing, he hopes other Canadians will be motivated to do the same.

"My wife and I have always been grateful for our families, especially the health of our three children," Duthie explained. "Their futures are almost limitless. That's such a contrast to the lives of children struggling in poverty in countries where Christian Children's Fund of Canada works. These children have so little, and the future must seem frightening and uncertain. Unless we come together to make a difference. Our family has decided to focus on helping children in need."

As a CCFC Ambassador, Duthie will represent the organization at events, in the media, and on tour, visiting sponsored children and communities whose lives have been changed as a result of the generosity of Canadian donors.

"I am inspired by the kindness of spirit shown by James Duthie," said Mark Lukowski, Chief Executive Officer, Christian Children's Fund of Canada. "Given the hectic demands of his career and family, it is remarkable to see his dedication to those less fortunate, and for that I am truly grateful."
