TVA Group Signs Agreement With Rogers Communications

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 1, 2012) - TVA Group is proud to announce that it has reached an important agreement with Rogers Communications aimed at offering Rogers' clients access to the Sun News and TVA Sports stations, as well as TVA Network content via Rogers Communications' video-on-demand, mobile and web platforms.

Rogers Communications, which has been distributing Sun News since the station's launch, is now offering Sun News permanently on channel 142 (SD) as part of the Digital VIP, Digital Plus, Ultimate Specialty Channels and News Theme Pack packages.

"We are pleased that Rogers Communications will continue to offer our Sun News station," says Luc Lavoie, head of Development at Sun News. "With some of the best on-air talent in Canada, Sun News stands out through its delivery of hard news and straight talk, which Canadians truly appreciate. Our contemporary programming will soon become a regular TV habit for Rogers Communications subscribers."

This agreement with Rogers Communications will also provide sports fans outside Quebec with access to the TVA Sports station starting February 23. Along with popular regular series like Le Match, L'Esprit d'équipe and its sports newscasts, TVA Sports airs several Ottawa Senators, Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Impact games, as well as action from the Canadian Hockey League, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Champions League, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the Interbox Group, GYM, the Red Bull Crashed Ice, the Davis Cup and now The Masters Tournament, just to name a few. TVA Sports will be available on channels 656 (SD) and 657 (HD), with a free preview period until April 30.

And there's even more good news for Rogers Communications clients: a large part of the TVA Network's programming will be available soon to mobile subscribers in Quebec starting in April, and to cable subscribers via video-on-demand (both on TV and online).

"Our objective is two-fold: provide our customers with world-class content and offer them the opportunity to experience that content where, when and how they want to watch it," said David Purdy, VP Video Products, Rogers Communications Inc. "The future of television is availability, not exclusivity, and that's exactly what this deal is about. We're excited to bring French-language programming to markets outside of Quebec, but also to provide our Quebec customers more access to content they want, on multiple devices with TVA on-demand."

"The TVA Group is delighted with this Rogers Communications agreement," adds Pierre Dion, President and CEO of TVA Group. "It provides even broader coast-to-coast reach for Sun News and TVA Sports, as well as the TVA Network."
