TVU Networks Introduces New Ultra-Lightweight Camera Mount Uplink Solution

TVUPack Mini Enables Video Professionals to Broadcast Live Direct-to-Web From Virtually Any Location With Superior Picture Quality

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 6, 2011) - TVU Networks, the global leader in live electronic news gathering (ENG) broadcasting solutions, today introduced TVUPack Mini, an ultra-small, lightweight portable live video transmission system that utilizes one or more wireless data cards to broadcast live events from virtually any location direct-to-Web with HD or SD broadcast quality. TVUPack Mini's lightweight design and small form factor gives broadcasters, production crews, news agencies and independent videographers a professional-quality tool to capture live video and broadcast high quality images directly to the Web.

TVUPack Mini is the latest addition to TVU's award-winning family of products. The Mini offers the following features:

  • Small and Portable -- Weighing less than two pounds, TVUPack Mini gives broadcasters a lightweight solution for video capture and transmission. TVUPack Mini is designed to fit with a variety of camera setups. The Mini can be used as a stand-alone unit, in a belt or shoulder mounted case, or can be mounted directly to a camera between the camera and its battery using industry-standard V-Mount or Gold Mount battery plates.
  • Wireless Transmission for Best-in-Class Picture Quality -- TVUPack Mini uses up to three wireless data cards to transmit audio/video signal over 3G/4G/WiFi/WiMax networks. Video transmission is powered by TVU's proprietary Inverse StatMux technology, which dynamically segments a live video signal and transmits the segments through multiple independent wireless connections according to the bandwidth availability of each connection, and aggregates all the segments at the receiver. As a result, TVUPack Mini is able to deliver superior picture quality and a more reliable stream than alternative cellular wireless broadcast products.
  • Simple to Use -- With TVUPack Mini, video crews can begin broadcasting live with just the push of a button. TVUPack Mini lets the camera operator focus on capturing compelling live video footage without needing to worry about managing or configuring the signal.
  • Ultra-low Power Consumption -- TVUPack Mini offers ultra-low power consumption for extended battery life. Additionally, TVUPack Mini's internal reserve battery offers continuous and seamless operation between battery changes, enabling camera operators to hot swap external batteries without interrupting transmission.
  • Cloud Enabled -- TVUPack Mini is compatible with TVUPack Cloud, giving customers the ability to broadcast directly to Web hassle-free.

"Many organizations are looking to distribute more and better-quality content over the Web. With TVUPack Mini, our customers have a cost-effective solution to capture and stream live video footage to their website from virtually anywhere in the world, while at the same time ensuring a better picture quality than alternative products available on the market," said Paul Shen, CEO of TVU Networks.

Already in use by hundreds of major broadcasters, news agencies and law enforcement agencies around the globe, TVU's award-winning TVUPack family of ENG broadcast solutions gives broadcasters satellite microwave TV truck functionality in a lightweight form factor. TVUPack provides broadcasters with sub-second latency, HD broadcast-quality signal that enables them to capture live footage at any time and from any location and deliver content to any platform.
