Twista Explodes Back Into Stores With "THE DAY AFTER"; Follow-Up to Smash "KAMIKAZE" Lands Today; "Girl Tonite" Burning up Radio Coast to Coast; Hip-Hop Hero Set for Exclusive In-Store

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 4, 2005 -- Atlantic recording artist Twista has announced the release of his eagerly awaited new album, "THE DAY AFTER." The 15-track set -- which follows the Grammy-nominated rapper's RIAA platinum-certified breakthrough smash, "KAMIKAZE" -- lands in stores today, Tuesday, October 4th.

"THE DAY AFTER" sees Twista joined in the studio by superstar guests such as Lil' Kim, Jamie Foxx, Pharrell, Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Juvenile, Trey Songz, Sleepy Eyed Jones, Speedknot Mobstaz, Pitbull, Syleena Johnson, and Johnny P. The revolutionary MC collaborated on the tracks with some of hip-hop's greatest production talents, including the Neptunes (T.I., Nelly, Jay-Z), Scott Storch (R Kelly, 50 Cent, Missy Elliott), Rodney Jerkins (Brandy, Aaliyah, Omarion), Toxic (Faith Evans, Do Or Die), Mr. Collipark (Ying Yang Twins) and Unusual Suspects (Pretty Ricky, Trick Daddy).

"Girl Tonite (feat. Trey Songz)," the album's first single, is already a bulleted top 10 hit at Urban radio outlets nationwide, as well as a top 20 smash at CHR/Rhythmic, where it was the week's #1 Most Added track upon its release earlier this summer. The track is also currently bulleting up the Billboard "Hot 100."

Twista will celebrate the release of "THE DAY AFTER" with an exclusive live performance on BET's "106 & Park," set for 6 PM today (check local listings). In addition, the hip-hop legend will stop by MTV's "Total Request Live" this afternoon to let his fans know of the album's arrival in stores.

Fans wishing to meet Twista will have their chance at a pair of special in-store appearances. On Wednesday, October 5th, the Chicago-based rapper will visit CD Depot in Gary, Indiana (located at 3570 Village Ct.), for a two-hour signing session kicking off at 7 PM. The next day, Twista will hit his hometown for a 5 PM appearance at Chicago's Best Buy store at 1000 North Avenue.

Long hailed as the rapper's rapper, Twista exploded out of the hip-hop underground with 2004's breakthrough "KAMIKAZE." The album was an instant sensation upon its release, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200, with first week sales of more than 300,000 units. Powered by two #1 crossover smashes, "Slow Jamz" (honored as ASCAP's "Most Played R&B Song of 2004") and "Overnight Celebrity," as well as the top 10 hit, "So Sexy," the album is now nearing the double platinum mark, officially establishing Twista as the superstar he has long deserved to be.
