WOBURN, MA--(Marketwire - Jul 11, 2011) - Acquia, the leading provider of commercial solutions for Drupal, announced today that Twitter selected a Drupal-based community solution for its new Twitter developer website at dev.twitter.com. The site, which was developed with support and guidance from Acquia, launched today.

The site provides information, tools, assistance, and support for the 750,000 developers across the Twitter ecosystem. It includes access to documents, APIs, tips, tutorials, a blog, and forums designed to connect developers to the Twitter team and each other.

"We are proud to be working with Twitter on this important effort," said Tom Erickson, Acquia's CEO. "It demonstrates Acquia's ability to deliver enterprise-scale applications, and reinforces that Drupal is truly a best-of-breed platform for community websites."

"Twitter has always been deeply supportive of open source efforts like Drupal," said Ryan Sarver, Twitter's Director of Platform. "We made the decision to go with Acquia and Drupal for our new dev.twitter.com site because of the customization and flexibility."

Today Twitter announced that more than one million registered applications have been created using the Twitter API, resulting in an ecosystem that has seen over $1 billion in acquisitions and more than $475 million in venture capital investment since December 2010.
