Two Aconex Customers Win Constructech Vision Awards

Hill International and Denver Regional Transportation District's Use of Online Collaboration Recognized as a Visionary Approach to Document and Project Management

SAN BRUNO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 20, 2011) - Today, Aconex, the world's largest provider of online collaboration solutions to the construction and engineering industries, announced that two of their customers, are recipients of a 2011 Constructech Vision Award for realizing the advantages of applying innovative technologies to their everyday businesses.

The two honored Aconex clients, Hill International and Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD), have created best-of-breed technology systems including Aconex to achieve the benefits the awards recognize:

  • Hill International (Marlton, NJ) won the only award given in the AEC/Design category, taking home the Gold Vision Award for using an innovative combination of technology and project management practices to ensure data security, drive project efficiency, and protect project budgets for numerous government stakeholders on the Reconstruction of the 200-Year-Old New York City Hall. A number of significant savings in time and resources will be passed on to the client as a result of the technology used.

  • RTD (Denver, CO) was awarded the Team Award, given to one project team that has experienced considerable success with using leading-edge technology specifically on one single project or program. RTD was chosen for their ability to employ technologies that accommodate vast collaborative needs, improve information sharing, and boost project efficiency across dozens of project teams working simultaneously on the $6.8 Billion FasTracks transit improvement program's 12 major projects. RTD has identified multi-million dollar savings in document control processes across the FasTracks program.

In addition to honoring builders and contractors, Constructech magazine also recognized Aconex as a technology enabler for their winning clients.

"We are honored to receive this accolade from Constructech," said Brian Starck, Enterprise Records and Information Manager, RTD. "On a program as large as FasTracks, everyday tasks can turn into major roadblocks if project teams spread across eight counties and dozens of projects can't collaborate effectively. We knew that we needed a combination of good teamwork and great document control practices to help us speed information transfer and resolve common communication issues, and our technology investment has done just that. It's inspiring to see that the effort made to overcome those challenges has been recognized."

"Project owners rely on Hill to run their projects efficiently so they can be completed on time and at the highest quality. To do that, we choose the best tools to support our project teams and to keep clients up-to-date with our progress. Using Aconex on the New York City Hall Reconstruction is making us a better project team capable of over-delivering for the New York City Department of Design and Construction, the New York City Council, and New York City Mayor's Office," said Michael Brothers, a project executive of Hill International. "Receiving the Vision Award from Constructech is validation that we are making the right choices for our clients."

The Constructech Vision Award entries were evaluated by an independent panel of industry experts and analysts who sought out companies that innovatively used technology and exemplified the payoffs and benefits of these applications, from problem solving to improve competitiveness to creating a better working environment for their employees.

"One topic that you will hear throughout the construction marketplace is the idea of collaboration. And, the winners of the Vision Awards epitomize this growing trend," says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech magazine. "These companies have found success, and that can be seen throughout the organization, from increased ROI, to employee efficiency, and so much more. Congratulations to each of the winners, on both the success they have achieved, and their determination to let collaboration lead them to it."

"It is an honor to be a part of the Constructech Vision Awards and we congratulate all of this year's winners," said Leigh Jasper, CEO of Aconex. "We recognize that all engineering and construction projects, like those Hill International and RTD are working on, present substantial collaboration challenges. We're pleased to provide the technology and services that enable our customers to overcome these challenges, and proud to be a part of what makes them visionary leaders."
