Two CH2M HILL Atlanta Engineers Honored as New Faces of Engineering

Profession's Brightest Young Stars Recognized as National Engineers Week Kicks Off, February 15-21

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - February 16, 2009) - Two engineers from CH2M HILL, a global full-service engineering, procurement, construction, and operations firm, were selected as New Faces of Engineering 2009 by the National Engineers Week Foundation to celebrate Engineers Week, February 15-21. The 14 honorees in this national program are the "best of the best" -- the next generation of engineers whose innovation, leadership and commitment to excellence are helping to better our world and inspire young people to consider a career in engineering.

Rolana Harris and Jamesia Hobbs, both chemical process engineers in CH2M HILL's Atlanta office, will be recognized during Engineers Week. Learn more about Harris and Hobbs through video testimonials at www.ch2mhill.com.

"These two young women exemplify the CH2M HILL way of delivering value for our clients and giving back to our communities and profession," says Lee McIntire, CH2M HILL CEO. "We are proud of all 19 of CH2M HILL's New Faces of Engineering nominees. Their passion, commitment and leadership represent us well in the quest to inspire a future generation of engineering talent."

Harris, nominated by the Project Management Institute, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures to design inherently safe equipment for chemical manufacturing plants for various company clients.

"I became an engineer because I enjoyed and excelled at math and science, so I knew engineering would be a good fit for my interests," says Harris. "Now I am most proud of following a project from inception to completion and realizing the value it brought to the plant during normal operations."

Hobbs, nominated by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, uses her experience across industries such as pulp and paper, chemical, polymer, and nuclear energy fields, to design efficient equipment and systems that workers in the field will use everyday.

"I became an engineer because I wanted to do something that touched people's lives, whether they realized it or not," says Hobbs. "I put 100 percent forward in everything I do and am most satisfied with any job done right."

In addition to their professional accomplishments, Harris and Hobbs actively give back to their communities as well. Harris has participated in three Habitat for Humanity House Builds and is helping coordinating CH2M HILL's Engineers Week educational outreach events in Atlanta. Hobbs is active in the Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. through programs such as Teen Forum, Delta Academy and Delta G.E.M.S. and volunteers with Hands-On-Atlanta and United Way.

During Engineers Week employee volunteers from more than 50 CH2M HILL offices will participate in local outreach events to give classroom presentations, lead students in hands-on engineering activities, judge science fairs and MATHCOUNTS competitions, and take students on project site tours to increase understanding of and excitement about engineering.
