Strong, world renowned environmentalist, has agreed to be an Advisor to
Ecology and Environment, Inc. (NASDAQ : EEI ), in their worldwide operations.
Mr. Strong has been actively assisting China in the environmental area for
over 40 years.
Strong's career path has spanned both business and public service,
primarily in the fields of international development, the environment,
energy, and finance. He was Secretary General of the Stockholm Conference,
the first major intergovernmental conference on the environment, and was
elected as the first head of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
In 1992, Strong served as Secretary General of the UN Conference on
Environment and Development -- the Rio Environmental Summit. This landmark
event, led by Strong, was attended by more heads of government than had
ever met together before, and it resulted in the first-ever global
cooperation on climate change.
Maurice played a key role in implementing the results of Rio through
establishment of the Earth Council, the Earth Charter movement, his
Chairmanship of the World Resources Institute, Membership on the Board of
the International Institute for Sustainable Development, the Stockholm
Environment Institute, the African-American Institute, the Institute of
Ecology in Indonesia, the Beijer Institute of the Royal Swedish Academy of
Sciences, and others.
