Two L'Islet Enterprises Receive Funding from Government of Canada

Amisco Industries Ltd. and Umano Medical Inc. contribute to growth of Chaudiere-Appalaches region through their respective projects

L'ISLET, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 9, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, for Official Languages and for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that Amisco Industries Ltd. and Umano Medical Inc. have received funding to carry out projects to stimulate their development and growth.

The assistance announced today, totalling $980,000, is being provided in the form of repayable contributions through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • Amisco Industries designs and manufactures steel furniture. To increase its production capacity, the firm has acquired equipment, including a laser cutting centre. This investment will enable Amisco to enhance its productivity and increase its sales. CED's assistance totals $480,000.
  • Umano Medical manufactures medical beds for Canadian and foreign markets. The $500,000 in funding from CED will enable the enterprise to implement a commercialization strategy for the U.S. market.
  • The contributions from the Government of Canada will help stimulate the local economy and generate benefits in the community.
