Two New Videos Highlight Patient and Provider Perspectives on eHealth Technology

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Jan 7, 2014) - eHealth4AZ, a statewide consumer education and awareness campaign, has released two new videos to help Arizona residents understand the role technology plays in their health and wellness. In the first video, "eHealth: Helping Arizonans Receive Better Care," actual Arizona patients share how they have personally experienced safer and more efficient health care from eHealth tools such as electronic health records (EHRs) and patient portals. In the second video, "Health Care Transformation in Arizona," Arizona doctors Michaela Skelly, M.D., Jenitza Serrano, M.D. and Rakesh Patel, M.D. explain how they are using eHealth tools to improve health care delivery and quality. eHealth4AZ is guided by a community task force comprised of more than 50 stakeholders including hospitals and health care systems, health plans, state and county governments, non-profit and consumer organizations in Arizona. The task force aims to educate Arizona residents on how to become more active and engaged in their own health and wellness through eHealth technology, including electronic health records, e-prescribing, patient portals and health information technology.

"Just as information technology has transformed other industries, eHealth technology is quietly and steadily driving improvements in health care efficiency and quality," said Tom Reavis, director of marketing & communications for Arizona Health-e Connection, the non-profit organization coordinating the campaign. "eHealth4AZ is one of the first campaigns of its kind in the nation focused on helping consumers understand how to leverage electronic tools to receive better information and better care."
