Two Rouyn-Noranda Businesses Receive Support from Government of Canada

ROUYN-NORANDA, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 14, 2014) - Canada Economic Development

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that two Rouyn-Noranda enterprises—La Boucherie du Lac and Équipements Knight-Nieminen Equipments Inc.—have been granted financial assistance to diversify their activities and ensure their growth.

This support, which totals $140,660, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program in the form of repayable contributions of $70,410 for La Boucherie du Lac and another of $70,250 for Équipements Knight-Nieminen Equipments Inc.

  • The contribution to La Boucherie du Lac will enable the company, which specializes in the production of sausages and sausage by-products, to improve productivity through the acquisition of new equipment that should help the enterprise cut waste and bolster sales.
  • The support granted to Équipements Knight-Nieminen Equipments Inc., a mining equipment manufacturer, will be used to implement a commercialization strategy in the goal of developing new distribution agreements with key partners on foreign markets.
  • These investments are aimed at stimulating the firms' growth and performance while consolidating existing jobs.
