U-Be-Livin-Smart Joins Forces With Metro Inc. on Groundbreaking Health Food Products

Rapidly Expanding Toronto-Based Food Start-Up Delivers Nutrient Dense Snacks to North American Consumers

TORONTO--(Marketwired - Jun 11, 2013) - U-Be-Livin-Smart (UBLS), an innovative new provider of healthy, affordable nutrient-dense foods, today announced that it's expanding distribution of its "Karma"ffin products in Canada and New York State. In less than 5 months after opening its doors, the Toronto start-up is bringing its healthy muffins to Metro Inc. as well as US-based Tops Markets. The product premiered in January 2013 on the Marilyn Denis Show and has been widely acclaimed for its great taste and unmatched nutritional value.

U-Be-Livin-Smart, a new kind of food company, is dedicated to producing healthy, great tasting, nutrient-dense foods and snacks that have no additives or preservatives. The company's first product, the "Karma"ffin, is a wholesome and delicious muffin that delivers seven grams of protein, one whole serving of fruits and vegetables, three grams of fiber and only 130 calories per muffin. The muffins are gluten and nut free and have no oil, salt or sugar added. They are already being distributed in leading stores throughout North America, including Whole Foods, Overwaitea Foods, Save-On-Foods, Federated Co-operatives Limited and others.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with both Metro and Tops to bring our nutritious products to even more health-conscious consumers in both Canada and the US," said Tim Sinclair, co-founder, U-Be-Livin-Smart. "Since our launch 5 months ago, we have seen our distribution network grow significantly, fueled by great partnerships with brands ranging from those right in our own backyard, to those based out West in Vancouver and down South in Texas. We at U-Be-Livin-Smart have set out to create the healthiest products available on the market today, and it's heartening to see how well they are being received by consumers across geographies. We are excited about the recent growth and our planned activities for the coming months, which includes the roll-out of some great new products."

The new distributions will put "Karma"ffins on shelves in 150 Metro stores across Ontario and Ottawa. New York State retailer Tops will carry "Karma"finns in 80 of its stores.

"Karma"ffins can be found in the frozen bakery aisle of many of your local grocers. For more information on U-Be-Livin-Smart and its products, please visit

Nutrient Dense
The Aggregate Nutrient Density Index (ANDI) is a score assigned to whole foods that contain the highest nutrients per calorie by analyzing the many nutrients in a food product. Eating a nutrient rich diet is beneficial in many ways and can help reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer. U-Be-Livin-Smart utilizes a patent-pending process to protect the integrity of nutrients found in healthy foods while at the same time making the products with no additives or preservatives. Starting with ten pounds of raw ingredients, this process transforms them into one pound of delicious health food without losing any of the nutrient and micro-nutrient value. The process is patent pending due to the complexity of making these products without additives or preservatives while maintaining all the nutrient value of the non-processed ingredients.

U-Be-Livin-Smart produces healthy, great tasting, nutrient-dense foods and snacks. Founded by an experienced food industry team, U-Be-Livin-Smart is launching four affordable food lines in 2013, led by its flagship product "Karma"ffins. Focused on delicious muffins and other unique nutrient dense products with no additives or preservatives, U-Be-Livin-Smart also works diligently to fight hunger and undernourishment in communities throughout North America.
