u-Nav Launches New High Sensitivity Single-Chip GPS Solution

IRVINE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 20, 2007 -- u-Nav Microelectronics, developer of one of the world's smallest and ultra low power Global Positioning System (GPS) chips and GPS software, today announced the availability of its latest high sensitivity product called Orion RX2™.

In conjunction with u-Nav's 0.18µ TSMC CMOS single-die implementation, Orion RX2™ delivers 20-channel GPS performance achieving industry leading sensitivity levels of -160dBm. While RX2 has increased tracking performance, this new software also provides support for 2G receiver dynamics and has been optimized for navigation and ground track performance under harsh urban canyon conditions.

This technology specifically targets the needs of the personal navigation device market. RX2 has been field tested throughout cities on a worldwide basis in tunnels and multi-level highways while maintaining robust performance.

Orion RX2™ is a powerful and versatile GPS navigation product based on u-Nav's latest single-die uN3010 and the Orion 2.1 software. The Orion 2.1 software is responsible for all GPS functions such as signal acquisition, tracking, data extraction, and GPS navigation. Orion's message-based architecture is well suited for both stand-alone and hosted system configurations for PND, handset and asset tracking applications.

The Orion RX2™ Software Development Kit (SDK) provides developers the freedom to customize and add functional software blocks to meet application specific requirements. In addition, this user friendly SDK allows users to modify operating parameters of the navigation software and develop custom applications to run on the internal DSP of u-Nav's GPS chipsets. The Orion RX2™ SDK also provides a complete set of performance analysis tools and support for production flashing of the Orion software.
