uTest Launches Crowdsourced Usability Testing Services

Software Testing Leader Offers Targeted Virtual Focus Groups via Its Community of 25,000 Software-Savvy Professionals

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - May 4, 2010) - uTest, the world's largest software testing marketplace, today announced the launch of its usability testing services, which enable uTest customers to easily build teams to test and optimize the usability of their apps. uTest also has dedicated usability experts within its community who can create usability audits and surveys, and analyze results for customers on demand.

Through its global community of 25,000 software-savvy professionals from 163 countries, uTest enables its customers to select their teams for usability testing (or virtual focus groups) by:

  • Personal Demographics: Age, Gender, Location, Languages, Hobbies and Education
  • Professional Demographics: Years Experience, Industry Experience, Web/Mobile Devices

"In a recent Nielson Norman Group study, 20 e-commerce sites that employed usability testing prior to a redesign saw sales/conversion rates increase by 87% and traffic/visitor count increase by 95%," said Doron Reuveni, CEO of uTest. "A poor user experience can ruin a product and the company behind it. Unlike in-house usability testing or large-scale lab-based testing, uTest's usability services leverage its profiled community of software professionals, who are committed to delivering unbiased, high-quality feedback. This results in quick, effective and low-cost usability testing."

uTest offers two survey-based usability testing options. A company can either create its own use cases and surveys, and then analyze the results itself, or uTest can provide the customer with a dedicated user experience (UX) expert. uTest UX experts are UI professionals and were recruited to the uTest community specifically for this type of work. A UX expert can create use cases and analyze the survey results for customers on demand.

This announcement follows uTest's launch of load testing services earlier this year. Similar to load testing, customers pay only for the usability projects they need, which dramatically reduces their total cost of testing.
