UB.net's Annie Duke Takes NBC Heads-Up Championship Title

Annie Duke Becomes First Woman to Win NBC Heads-Up Championship Poker Tournament

MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - March 8, 2010) -  On the same night that Kathryn Bigelow made history as the first woman to win best director at the Academy Awards, renowned poker professional Annie Duke was busy making some history of her own. UB.net's Annie Duke became the first woman to win the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship. She beat out Erik Seidel in final heads-up action to take home $500,000 and the NBC Heads-Up title.

Annie Duke is UB.net's Cardroom Consultant. With a number of impressive wins under her belt, she holds the title of the world's best female poker player. Annie's first WSOP bracelet win came in 2004 after she beat out 234 players in the $2,000 buy-in Omaha Hi/Lo Split event.

In 2004, Annie also took a seat in the invitation-only WSOP Tournament of Champions and knocked out eight of the world's best poker legends to claim the top prize of $2 million. Duke has made 15 final tables at the WSOP alone and has cashed 37 times heading into 2010. In addition to the respect she's gained in the world of poker, Annie is also revered for her humanitarian work.

The NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship first hit the airwaves in 2005 as replacement programming during the NHL lockout. Annie Duke is not alone in representing UB.net on the list of NBC Heads-Up champions. UB.net's Phil Hellmuth took the first NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship title in 2005.
