UC Irvine Extension Teaching English as a Foreign Language Program Exhibiting at the Anime Expo July 1-4

Information Available for Anime Enthusiasts Interested in Learning How to Travel the World and Earn Money

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 15, 2016) - Representatives from the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate Program at University of California, Irvine Extension will be attending the Anime Expo to share information about the emerging career field of teaching English abroad. Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on July 1-4, the TEFL team (located at booth number 4125) is on-hand to offer interested Expo attendees what they need to know to live and work overseas. By being a part of the demand for qualified English teachers around the world, participants are opening doors to diverse professional career opportunities, and expanding their world view while living abroad.

"For more than 30 years, UC Irvine Extension has prepared thousands of individuals to pursue careers as English as Foreign Language teachers," said Bradley Gilpin, associate director of International Programs at UC Irvine Extension. "Through our experience, we have found that many interested in working in the anime industry do so by immersing themselves in the Japanese culture and subsequently, support themselves by becoming an English teacher as they pursue their passion in anime. The TEFL certificate program is a great way to build valuable experience, all the while traveling the world and making a difference by helping others."

The Certificate Program in Teaching English as a Foreign Language is an intensive 11-week program with 180 hours of specialized training designed to provide those with little or no teaching experience the practical teaching skills and confidence to transition into a new international adventure with ease. Benefits include being taught by highly qualified teacher-trainers who have lived and taught abroad, access to career and job counseling during and after completion of the program, and a 20-hour course designed to foster effective country and job research.

The program is offered each quarter from Mondays through Fridays at the UC Irvine campus. The summer program runs from June 20 through Sept. 2, while the fall cohort program will be offered from Sept. 26 through Dec. 9.
