UCLA Extension and Mortgage Bankers Association Host Careers Forum November 15

West Coast Commercial Real Estate Finance Event Comes to UCLA

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - November 03, 2016) - On Tuesday November 15, the Commercial Real Estate Finance (CREF) Careers Forum comes to UCLA as the Mortgage Bankers Association and UCLA Extension host an industry job fair and panel for current and recent students, alumni, professionals, and others, who want to work in the $3.0 trillion commercial real estate industry. This is a free event.

The CREF Careers Forum allow attendees to interact with industry recruiters, get tips on internships/training programs, and discover careers in real estate, accounting, finance, marketing and law. Successful CREF Careers Forums have been held at Howard University in Washington D.C., and Harvard University in Boston, MA. This is the first time the CREF Careers Forum has been held on the west coast.

"There is an impressive talent pool in Southern California which makes universities an attractive place to recruit candidates for the commercial real estate industry," said Roger L. Torneden, Ph.D., CFP® Director, Business, Management, and Legal Programs at UCLA Extension. "Top talent is drawn to the industry because work/life/play environments are driving commercial developments, data, and the disruption of barriers between owners, users, and sellers, has created dynamic career opportunities for all majors and degrees."

Jeff Majewski, Chief Operating Officer, CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) opens the forum. CBRE is the world's largest commercial real estate services and investment firm. Majewski's remarks are significant because CBRE dominates the industry with $10.9 billion in revenues and over 70,000 employees.

The industry panel features representatives from Prudential Realty, KeyBank, Berkeley Point Capital, Berkadia, and Walker & Dunlop. Additional speakers and hiring managers from Jones Lang LaSalle, Wells Fargo, PNC, NorthMarq Capital, and others are scheduled to meet with attendees during the job fair/reception.

The CREF Careers Forum on November 15th goes from 6-9pm, at Covel Commons, UCLA Campus. Attendees are encouraged to submit resumes to the Mortgage Banking Association in advance. Sign-up here.
