UFCW Canada-Windsor, Ontario Wal-Mart Workers Apply To
Go Union: Press Conference, Wednesday, March 2nd At
11:00 A.M. EST

WINDSOR, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 2, 2005) - Current and longtime
Wal-Mart employees will be briefing the media at a press conference on
Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. regarding their union drive and
upcoming vote at their Windsor, Ontario store.

An application for certification was filed Tuesday with the Ontario
Labour Relations Board (OLRB). A union certification vote could follow
as early as next week

Joining the Windsor Wal-Mart workers will be representatives of UFCW
Canada (United Food and Commercial Workers Canada) to discuss the
application, and the certification vote to be conducted by the OLRB.

The Holiday Inn Select is five blocks south of the Ambassador Bridge.
The Amherstburg Room will be lit for video. Direct audio distribution
feeds (microphone and line level) will be supplied.

UFCW Canada is the union leading the drive to assist Wal-Mart Canada
workers in their campaign for justice and dignity in the workplace.
Currently Wal-Mart stores in Jonquiere and Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec have
been certified and are the only unionized Wal-Mart stores in North
America. Applications to certify 12 other Wal-Mart locations across
Canada are also pending with labour boards in British Columbia,
Saskatchewan and Quebec.
