UK Affluent Investors Are Strongly Self-Reliant

Phoenix Marketing International Releases Initial Results From Their European Wealth Monitor

LONDON--(Marketwire - Jul 6, 2011) - Phoenix Marketing International (PMI), one of the fastest growing marketing services firms, announced today some findings from its Global Wealth Monitor survey of affluent and high net worth wealth (HNW) owners in the United Kingdom. Among the key findings from this study are that the vast majority of affluent investors in the UK are very self-reliant regarding investment decisions, but if they do have a primary investment adviser, independents have the edge.

The PMI Global Wealth Monitor-Europe provides continuous strategic insights about affluent and HNW wealth owners across five major countries in Europe. Results from the Spring 2011 survey in the UK found that 40% of affluent investors use a non-professional as their primary adviser (either relying on themselves or a friend/relative). The study defines affluent as a household having a minimum of £154,000 and/or £105,000 in income. Further, when asked to describe their orientation towards advice, close to 80% labeled themselves as "self-directed" or "use advisers for selected financial needs only." For those affluent and HNW investors who have a primary professional adviser, about one-third use an independent adviser and another 20% use a banker/building society. These two channels had the highest satisfaction ratings from affluent respondents as well.

The PMI Global Wealth Monitor-Europe surveys over 5000 affluent and HNW investors annually in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy with a comprehensive bi-annual questionnaire. Subscribers receive reports throughout the year summarizing the findings for Europe and each targeted country.
