UK Competition Commission statement supports Wienerberger bid

VIENNA, AUSTRIA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 4, 2007 --

- Wienerberger pleased with provisional findings of UK Competition
- Final Report scheduled before the end of May
Vienna, April 4, 2007 - Wienerberger welcomes today's announcement by the UK Competition Commission which provisionally clears Wienerberger's recommended bid for Baggeridge Brick.

Management looks forward to Final Report

Wolfgang Reithofer, CEO of Wienerberger AG, commented on the release: "We are very pleased with the Notice of Provisional Findings issued by the Competition Commission and are looking forward to the release of the Final Report, which is scheduled for publication before the end of May."

The positive conclusion of the transaction would represent a further milestone in the long-term success story of Wienerberger and would ideally complement the existing business operations in the UK.

Wienerberger expects closing of transaction before September

Following final clearance, Wienerberger expects to be able to close the transaction by the end of August.

Wienerberger is the world's largest producer of bricks and Nr. 2 on the clay roof market in Europe. It also holds leading positions in pavers in Europe, with a total of 259 plants in 25 countries. In 2006 Wienerberger Group achieved revenue of EUR 2,225.0 million and EBITDA of EUR 471.9 million.
