UK Defense Academy Authors Second Volume of Case Studies in Defense Procurement & Logistics

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 8, 2014) -  Students and Practitioners of the UK defense acquisition community have contributed to a second volume of case studies authored by the UK Defense Academy and published by prestigious Cambridge University Press.

This second volume contains seventeen cases focusing on defense procurement and logistics issues that will provide an excellent learning opportunity to a variety of readers. This wide-ranging audience will include military personnel, those on defense education and training programs, employees of the defense industry, those in defense agencies and those engaged in defense and security-related research (an example being under- and postgraduate students on international politics and strategic studies courses).

It will also be of relevance to students undertaking procurement and supply chain management courses that are not necessarily intended for military or defense careers. This is because many of the cases focus upon fundamental aspects which pervade all the relevant areas of, for example, logistics.

Contributor and Transatlantic defense consultant Dr. Jeffrey Bradford provides a former classified analysis of the acquisition of the Bowman communication system supplied to the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force which involved extensive interviews with the acquisition and user community during its development.

In a second contribution Dr. Bradford provides a 25 year review of the Post-Cold War British Defence Policy "Options for Change" utilizing interviews and recently declassified materials. His analysis also provides a route map for understanding the role both of organizational and bureaucratic politics alongside an analysis of the role of political actors in shaping national security strategy.
