UK Insurance Company Selects Infoblox Appliances to Support VoIP

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - January 28, 2008) - Infoblox Inc. today announced that the BGL Group, a privately owned, UK-based insurance broker, has selected and deployed Infoblox appliances to deliver internal domain name resolution (DNS), IP address assignment (DHCP) and configuration file distribution services (TFTP/HTTP) -- core network services that play an essential role in operation of network and voice over IP (VoIP) applications.

BGL Group arranges and administers insurance for more than two million customers and employs approximately 2,255 people. Their head office is in Peterborough, UK, and the Company has data centers in Coventry, Sunderland and Peterlee, UK, as well as Cape Town, South Africa.

Taking a hard look at their VoIP and underlying core network services infrastructure, which spanned two continents, BGL Group's IT team realized that an upgrade was required to achieve the "dial-tone" reliability they require for daily business operations to proceed without interruption.

Over a span of four months, working closely with Avaya, Infoblox worked out a solution to support the Company's VoIP phone system, starting with BGL Group's data center in Cape Town for the initial installation, eventually deploying HA pairs of appliances in their main data center in Peterborough, UK, as well as their other data centers throughout the UK.

Andrew Beehoo, Senior Telecomms Engineer, BGL Group, commented: "Immediately we realized the manageability of the system is far easier because there is a central point for administration. And, we anticipated increased productivity because the appliances run so many different services in a single box. Also, high availability for reliability across the board is valuable for ensuring 'dial-tone' reliability for our VoIP application."

In all, 15 Infoblox appliances were deployed and coupled with a complete Avaya VoIP platform. Today, the Infoblox appliances deliver DNS, DHCP, and configuration file distribution services (TFTP/HTTP) for the overall network and the VoIP phones. The Infoblox appliances are linked together by the Infoblox grid technology for central management from the headquarters in Peterborough and automating time-intensive tasks such as distributing IP phone firmware images at remote sites.

Knowing the importance of planning for the future, BGL Group's underlying network infrastructure and VoIP phone system now have the functionality, resiliency and reliability needed for their anticipated growth.
