UK Transport-a Year in Review

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Feb. 14, 2011) - For a company that relies heavily on public transport, DS Global's Duncan Sharp looks back at an interesting year in 2010. "I think living and working in London you have to adapt to accept the dogged reliability of TFL services. But this year seems to have been especially challenging for transport across the board."

Fortunately the air traffic suspension during the two eruptions of the Icelandic volcano did not have a huge impact on us. However, the recent snow fiasco definitely saw people from the company stranded away from work around the Christmas period.

Providing direct marketing solutions for their clients, DS Global delivers marketing directly to the consumer and can easily be affected by transport delays and cancellations. "If you consider it from a productivity point of view, travel delays to and from consumer areas can reduce the amount of marketing time in the day and week" says Duncan Sharp.

Days where staff members have difficulty attending at all obviously affect any business and DS Global is no exception. But according to Duncan Sharp, they use a carefully developed mentality towards these kinds of problems and issues to avoid them having a deleterious effect on the business and its clients:

"At the ends of the day, if problems like these are out of our control and there is no benefit in wasting time and resources worrying about them, we don't! We have a lot more fun trying to work out solutions on how to maintain productivity in adversity than running in circles. A key to success is to be prepared."

Perhaps this is why DS Global is one company that has enjoyed continued growth and success throughout the current recession and looks forward to what the future brings.
