Ukrainian beers are the talk of the town

Slavutich and Lvivske premium beers featured at the Toronto Ukrainian Festival

Attention: Assignment Editor, Food/Beverage Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Sept. 11, 2008) - This weekend, the Toronto Ukrainian Festival, one of the premier Ukrainian festivals in North America, kicks off its celebrations at Bloor West Village on September 12, and will feature two world class lagers that are Ukraine's most popular premium beers, Slavutich and Lvivske.

Both beers are all natural Pilsner style lagers with no preservatives and distinct taste profiles which appeal to both beer aficionados and casual beer drinkers.

Having been recently featured in Ukraine's largest English-language paper, Maxim, Playboy and Kompanion business, been on tap at this year's Toronto Beer Festival and hand-picked by Oliver Dawson, of Beer Lovers' Tour Company, for a tutored beer tasting at Toronto's Beer Bistro, Slavutich and Lvivske are receiving recognition for being world class beers.

During the festival, Multiculture Bevco, Canadian distributors of Slavutich and Lvivske premium beers, and Slava Ultra Premium Vodka will be handing out free tattoos, coasters and other fun swag at their booth located next to the beer garden, while roving reporter, Dan Pasqua, host of TV's Swap Shop, will be doing video interviews for YouTube.

"Dan will be asking visitors about their favourite Ukrainian-Canadian beer and vodka, testing their pronunciation of things like Slavutich and Lvivske, which I know is going to be a blast, and trivia questions," says John Vellinga, president of Multiculture Bevco. "Questions like, do you know how old the Lvivske brewery is? Or, how many times Slava vodka is distilled?"

Additionally, Multiculture Bevco will be posting many of these interviews on YouTube and compiling a "Best Moments of the Fest." Visitors, who are in the winning segment, will receive a Slavutich/Lvivske prize pack.

With quality Ukrainian products and celebrities of Ukrainian descent, organizers expect to attract 350,000 visitors to the celebrations. This year's Parade Marshall is Randy Bachman, legendary rock and roll musician of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, whose mother is a descendant of Western Ukraine.

"The Toronto Ukrainian Festival is a great cultural event for both Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians," says Vellinga.
"Some even call it Toronto's Oktoberfest because it's so big and so much fun."

While Slavutich and Livivske are available at the LCBO, as the Ukrainian Festival's featured beers, they can be easily purchased at the Beer Garden during the event.
