UK’s transport faces gridlock the evidence

UK's transport facing gridlock by 2020 claims latest transport capacity research.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 28, 2007) - With demand reaching record levels, London and many of Britain's major cities will become gridlocked if transport planners ignore the findings of the Transport Capacity report which will be made public on Thursday.

The report focuses on transport capacity and the most cost effective way of moving people and freight from A to B. With Prime Minister Gordon Brown "signing up" to an 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050 increasing road traffic cannot be the answer. The Government are investing in new trains but this alone won't be enough to meet the demand. So what is the answer?

The transport capacity report objectively looks at all the transportation options and the results are both surprising and controversial. If transport planners fail to act now the effect on the UK economy could be devastating.

The report will be launched at One Aldwych and all news media in attendance will receive a bound copy.
