UL Warns of Potentially Hazardous Decorative Lighting Strings

NORTHBROOK, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 30, 2007 -- Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers and retailers that decorative lighting strings manufactured by Linhai Jufeng Decorative Lights Company Ltd. may pose a risk of shock or fire hazard.

Name of Product: Mini light sets, models JFDS50/1L and 831-1532

Units: Unknown

Date of Manufacture: 2005 and 2006

Manufacturer: Linhai Jufeng Decorative Lights Company Ltd.

Hazard: The decorative light strings are not constructed in compliance with UL's applicable safety standard, which may result in overheating creating a potential risk of electric shock and fire hazard to users.


On the product: The end of the decorative light string has a tag with the marking "E243285" and one of the model numbers "JFDS50/1L" or "831-1532."

What you should do: UL recommends that users stop using the products immediately and return them to the place of purchase.
