Ulticom Announces Availability of Diameter in Its IMS-Ready Signalware

New Release Accelerates the Development of IMS Applications for Converged Networks

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ and BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 19, 2005 -- At the Fall VON conference, Ulticom®, Inc. (NASDAQ: ULCM), the premier provider of signaling software solutions, today announced the availability of IMS-ReadyTM Signalware® Diameter, a key signaling protocol for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) functions. IMS is rapidly becoming the de facto service delivery architecture for fixed, wireless, and packet cable networks. The addition of Diameter to the widely-deployed Signalware product line accelerates the development of core IMS network elements by offering signaling software that is IETF and 3GPP compliant, field tested, and of carrier-grade quality.

As a trusted partner to network equipment manufacturers and application developers around the world, Ulticom supplies standards-based signaling solutions that simplify service creation and help promote service innovation. IMS-Ready Signalware Diameter, combined with the comprehensive Signalware development and deployment environment, eases the creation of any IMS network element, including CSCF, HSS, Application Servers, and Signaling Gateways.

"The addition of Signalware Diameter to our line of proven, carrier-grade SS7 and SIP signaling products and domain expertise creates a comprehensive product offering that is unique in our industry," said Osman Duman, vice president of Marketing at Ulticom. "IMS-Ready Signalware Diameter reduces development time and allows vendors to focus R&D resources on their core value-added capabilities."

IMS-Ready Signalware Diameter supports IETF, 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards. Key product features include the Diameter Base Protocol (RFC 3588), the AAA Transport Profile (RFC 3539) and the 3GPP Sh interface. The Sh interface provides IMS application servers with secure access to subscriber data centrally stored on the Home Subscriber Server (HSS) database. Future plans include support for additional 3GPP interfaces such as SIP authentication, subscriber location services, and real-time charging interfaces.

Ulticom's IMS-Ready products offer an integrated signaling platform that supports the development of carrier-grade applications that require SS7, SIP, and Diameter protocols in a common development and deployment environment. The Signalware platform enables the orderly migration of services from current PSTN and 2.5G wireless networks to the IMS service delivery architecture.

"Carriers need to create a seamless evolutionary path by bridging their current network architecture with an optimized environment that uses IMS," said Philip Marshall, vice president, Wireless Mobile Technologies for the Yankee Group. "During this complex transition, solution vendors must provide investment savings by leveraging existing service enablers and reusable platform components such as Signalware across multiple IMS applications and network elements."

IMS-Ready Signalware Diameter will be featured this week in Ulticom's booth #1215 at the Fall VON 2005 conference in Boston, MA. For additional information, please visit www.ulticom.com
