Ulticom's Signalware Chosen by Orange UK to Evolve Network Toward IMS

Signalware Provides a Flexible Carrier-Grade Platform to Rapidly and Efficiently Deploy Next Generation of Intelligent Network Services

MT. LAUREL, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 27, 2005 -- Ulticom, Inc. (NASDAQ: ULCM), the premier provider of signaling software solutions, today announced that Orange UK has licensed Ulticom's Signalware products to enable a wide variety of advanced mobility, messaging, and location services. Ulticom's network signaling solutions support these services by allowing the real-time exchange of customer information to make mobile networks run more efficiently with extreme reliability.

At the center of the Orange service delivery platforms are carrier-grade directory servers providing a single universal data repository for subscriber-related data, and application hosting environments, for performance-critical applications.

Orange also utilizes Signalware to create various real-time service brokers, which serve as universal adapters that provide an abstracted interface to the underlying functions of the service delivery platforms. This allows interworking of GSM services with Intelligent Network (IN) capabilities to enable services such as prepaid charging for multimedia and global calling line identification. A specific location service broker is also used to interwork the various network capabilities required to realize location-based services, including positioning systems, WAP services, and location applications.

Network performance and flexibility is further enhanced through the use of service location registers, which provide subscriber-to-service brokering, allowing a common entry point for all service requests. A service broker application is also used to directly deliver text messages without routing them through the Short Message Service Center. This provides the flexibility and control Orange needs to offer its customers a wide range of enhanced text messaging services like news alerts and information.

"Orange continually demonstrates its thought leadership by introducing advanced and innovative service delivery architectures ahead of IMS standardization, with a strong emphasis on real-time capabilities," said Osman Duman, vice president of marketing at Ulticom. "We are extremely pleased to help Orange evolve its network to rapidly and efficiently deliver enhanced services to customers."
