Union and Loblaw Companies Achieve Amendments to Memorandum of Agreement


MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 3, 2015) - The United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Locals 175 & 633 and Loblaw Companies Limited have achieved amendments to the memorandum of settlement covering the nine stores where Union members have been on strike since July 2 at 12:01 a.m.

The 1,600 Union members on strike at Zehrs and RCSS stores in Kent, Essex and Lambton counties will have the opportunity to vote on the amendments to the memorandum of settlement at meetings to be scheduled in the coming week. Strike action will continue at the nine affected stores pending the outcome of those votes.

The parties returned to negotiations on July 2 at the request of the Ministry of Labour appointed Conciliation Officer.

The Union will not communicate any further with the media at this time at the request of the Ministry of Labour appointed mediator.

UFCW Locals 175 & 633 represents 74,000 Union members working across Ontario, including 18,000 at Loblaw-owned locations.
