Union Certifies Another Quebec Wal-Mart:
Saint-Hyacinthe Tire and Lube Express Employees Newest
Members of UFCW Canada

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 11, 2005) - Wal-Mart Tire & Lube
Express employees at a store in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec have been
granted union certification by the Quebec Labour Relations Commission,
making them the third group of Quebec Wal-Mart workers to be unionized.

"We are constantly working to improve the working and living conditions
of Wal-Mart employees, and we will persevere," said Yvon Bellemare,
president of union local 501 of the United Food and Commercial Workers
Canada (UFCW Canada).

The application to certify the auto service shop employees was submitted
on January 28. A wide-ranging UFCW unionization campaign is currently
underway with applications pending at 12 other Wal-Mart stores in Quebec
and across Canada.

Local 501 of UFCW Canada represents about 11,000 members working in 235
work units: distribution centres, warehouses, food processing,
distilleries, breweries, retail business, and other sectors.

UFCW Canada is one of Canada's largest private sectors unions with over
230,000 members working in the food retailing and processing,
warehousing, security, hospitality, office, retail, and health care
sectors.

In Quebec UFCW Canada represents 50,000 workers in the retail, food and
financial institution sectors, and others. UFCW Canada is an affiliate
of the FTQ which is Quebec's largest union confederation with more than
half a million members.
