Union Contract Signed at Starcore's San Martin Mine

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 5, 2008) - Starcore International Mines Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX:SAM) is pleased to announce that it has successfully concluded negotiations with "SNTMMSRM", the Mexican labour union at its San Martin Gold Mine in Queretaro, Mexico. The negotiations were conducted in a professional and positive environment, and were concluded in record time, largely due to lead negotiator, Sr. Napoleon Gomez Urrutia. Starcore now has a Collective Bargaining Agreement secure for the next two years.

"We are especially grateful to Sr. Gomez for his invaluable assistance in handling what has resulted in mutually beneficial arrangements between Starcore and SNTMMSRM," said Robert Eadie, President & CEO of Starcore. "Having our Collective Bargaining Agreement in place until 2010 assures us of a positive working environment at the San Martin Mine. We look forward to growth and development for the company, its employees and their families, and the surrounding communities."

Starcore International Mines is a strategically positioned junior producer in Mexico and is poised to advance its performance as the technical and management team execute the mine plan at San Martin. Starcore is aggressively developing its reserve base to both support and expand its current mining operations.
