Unipac Shipping Selects GT Nexus to Power Global Logistics Data Hub

Logistics Management Company to Use Industry Portal for Collection and Standardization of Shipment Status Information Across All Ocean Carriers

ALAMEDA, CA--(Marketwire - November 13, 2007) - GT Nexus today announced that its industry trade and logistics portal will serve as the ocean shipment visibility data hub for Unipac Shipping, Inc. Ocean shipment status data will be captured from Unipac's partner carriers, standardized into a common format, and then fed directly into Unipac's internal visibility systems.

Unipac Shipping, Inc. is a full-service logistics management company providing integrated transportation, customs brokerage, warehousing and distribution services to a worldwide shipping community that spans North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and China.

"In our industry, technology is a strategic differentiator," said Paul Tsuei, IT Manager at Unipac Shipping. "Through a single integration between our system and the GT Nexus portal, we get standardized shipment status information from all of our carrier partners. This industry data utility approach will make our systems perform better and help us improve the value we offer our customers."

Data quality continues to be the key technology challenge in the inter-company world of global logistics. While there are many networks available, most of them simply pass raw, unformatted data between systems. GT Nexus blends a global network with industry intelligence, tools and processes to ensure that data is standardized before it is fed to applications or other systems.

How GT Nexus data services works:

1) Data is collected through the GT Nexus network. The underlying infrastructure and partner connections are already in place, supporting thousands of existing customers. This allows new customers to get started quickly and cost effectively. All major ocean carriers and 3PLs are connected to GT Nexus, supporting multiple customers.

2) GT Nexus standardizes the data into a common format. As data files come in, they are mapped against a proprietary industry catalogue and then translated into a universal format. This catalogue has been built up over several years, based on the experience of thousands of customer rollouts and over a billion individual events.

3) Standardized data is fed into "consuming" applications. These applications can be the trade and logistics management solutions provided over the GT Nexus portal, or they can be customer systems. GT Nexus is currently integrated to all types of customer platforms, including ERP, TMS, Order Management and Proprietary/Custom systems.

All GT Nexus customers and their global partner networks are on a single on-demand platform. While each customer has its own secure partner community and capability footprint, the network and data intelligence infrastructure is shared by all. If an event message is unrecognized, one fix corrects that message type for every customer on the portal.

Unipac will no longer need to maintain multiple integrations to its network of ocean carriers -- they will maintain one connection to GT Nexus. Unipac will also be able to monitor data quality with a set of dashboards and tools that GT Nexus provides.

"The leading logistics management companies understand the value of good technology," said Greg Johnsen, EVP of Marketing at GT Nexus. "Through this initiative, Unipac will fuel their systems with the kind of accurate, complete and timely data that's required to run a reliable visibility platform. We welcome them to the GT Nexus shipper customer community that has made the portal the industry logistics platform of choice."
