Unipathic Medicine: President Obama's 2015 State of the Union Address Encourages Changes in Cancer Treatment

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - January 21, 2015) - In last night's State of the Union address, President Obama encouraged a new type of medicine (such as Unipathic Medicine) that looks to genomics to treat cancer and other chronic diseases. In his own words, "I want the country that eliminated polio and mapped the human genome to lead a new era of medicine -- one that delivers the right treatment at the right time. In some patients with cystic fibrosis, this approach (genomics) has reversed a disease once thought unstoppable." He didn't stop there, saying, "Tonight, I'm launching a new Precision Medicine Initiative to bring us closer to curing diseases like cancer and diabetes -- and to give all of us access to the personalized information we need to keep ourselves and our families healthier." At Unipathic Medicine, we feel that it's about time, and we have been practicing this type of personalized medicine in the treatment of cancer and chronic disease for over a decade with strong success.

Cancer needs a new classification as a disease of biomarkers. Unipathic Medicine firmly believes that cancer is a disease of genetic mutations and that treatments must be selected based on that knowledge. This belief is further supported by the fact that roughly 80% of our patients come to us on the wrong chemotherapeutic drugs because their previous treatment programs lacked an attention to genomics. In response, Unipathic Medicine has incorporated customized treatment plans for patients and utilizes genetically targeted fractionated chemotherapy (GTFC) instead of standard chemo. Being micro dosed and targeted to genetic markers in patients, GTFC is much more specialized for most cancer types and significantly less harmful on the body than standard chemotherapy, which damages good cells and bad cells indiscriminately.

We know that personalized treatment, the study of genetic mutations and the expression of bio-makers / molecular profiles are the best way forward for treatment but it all needs to be done properly at the highest level. Unipathic medicine has done this by establishing strong quality control guidelines. We train doctors with an emphasis on establishing a proper medical blueprint before and throughout the treatment process.

Finally, the link between genomics and cancer is getting the general public's attention, and our goal is to provide patients the cancer care that they desperately need. For more information, go to our website at
