Unique Government Security Event Chairman Announced

LONDON, ENGLAND--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2006) - GOVERNMENT security experts today announced that former Deputy Chief of Defence Staff Sir Edmund Burton will chair IA06.

Sir Edmund, who recently completed a three year appointment as executive chairman of the Police IT Organisation also provides support for the Cabinet Office on Information Assurance and leadership development initiatives.

IA06 - running from June 26 to 28 in Brighton - will seek to harness the experience, knowledge and energy of leaders in the government and private sector.

The event has been created by CESG working with the Central Sponsor for Information Assurance and the National Infrastructure Security Co-ordination Centre to deliver the authoritative government event on Information Assurance.

Sir Edmund commented: "This event will address a key component of the Transformational Government agenda - that of ensuring that the availability, integrity and confidentiality of information, data and communications services are properly managed.

"Whilst aimed largely at the public sector, our event acknowledges the crucial role played by commercial providers of IT and communications services and draws on their experience and expertise."

Several senior government figures will speak as well as senior business leaders from industry.

IA06 will encourage delegates to share their expertise and experience at a number of workshops to examine the implications of major issues, including the management of information risks, business continuity, and building professionalism, in order to generate options that can be taken forward.
