Unique Summer Travel Experience Tickets Released-BC 150 Years Rivermania

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 19, 2008) - Announced today, travellers are able to book their tickets for the British Columbia's most exciting travel experience - BC150 Years Rivermania. In 2008, British Columbia celebrates the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia. One of BC150 Years' flagship events, Rivermania will honour the Fraser River and its Peoples and recognize the 200th anniversary of Simon Fraser's exploration of the Fraser River. From August 24 to September 28, 2008, a flotilla of boats will begin the journey from Prince George down the Fraser River to its end in Steveston (Richmond). Visitors can book their Rivermania experience by calling 1-888-730-9503.

During Rivermania, visitors are invited to experience the Mighty Fraser River like never before: jetboats, safari boats, voyageur canoes and river rafts will fill the river all the way from Prince George to Steveston. The flotilla will stop in communities along the way where participants can take part in outdoor wilderness excursions and community celebrations for BC150 Years. A key component of the Rivermania festival is celebrating and honouring over 10,000 years of First Nations history and culture. Exciting First Nations activities along the way will include making miniature drums, hearing traditional story telling, and dining on traditional First Nations fare. There'll be live musical performances by Tiller's Folly, panning for gold, local markets to explore, square dancing, and more.

Following the announcement, BC150 Years Rivermania Project Coordinator Georgia Katz commented: "Rivermania will help British Columbians and visitors see the Mighty Fraser River in a whole new light. The journey is broken into 18 segments, and whether you ride the river with the flotilla for one, two, or all 18 segments is up to you - the Rivermania experience is yours to create. Each day reveals new vistas and more excitement."
