Unite at Cardiff Mardi Gras 2007

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Aug. 29, 2007) - Unite the Union banners and balloons will be flying proudly at this year's Cardiff Mardi Gras Festival on Saturday 1st September 2007.

Unite has a long history of involvement with the Mardi Gras and is committed to promoting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights within the workplace and beyond.

Unite Regional Officer, Andrea Jones, said:

"Mardi Gras is organised by and is primarily a celebration for the lesbian and gay communities in Wales, however it is also a great family event and our Unite stand has been designed with that in mind.

It's important that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers know that Unite can be there for them at work and they do not need to be isolated either because of, or in spite of, their sexual orientation or gender. Come along and visit us between 1-9pm on Saturday at Coopers Field, Cardiff."

The Unite stand will be staffed by Officers and Activists from the union who will be encouraging existing members to participate in the union's equality networks as well as talking to the festival-goers about the benefits of joining Unite.

Date: Saturday 1 September 2007

Venue: Coopers Field, Cardiff Castle

Time: 1 - 9pm
