Unite Calls off Industrial Action at Metronet

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Sept. 3, 2007) - Following intense negotiations over the last seven days Unite has cancelled its intended industrial action at Metronet which was due to begin at 1800 hours today.

Unite Regional Officer, Brian Harris says,
"After days of intense negotiations we're pleased to announce that Unite is calling off its' industrial action at Metronet. We have received guarantees from both Metronet and the Mayor that there will be no redundancies or forced transfers whilst Metronet is in administration. Furthermore, we have received assurances on our members' pensions now and going into the future.

We look forward to working with the administrator and any future owner to ensure that the maintenance of the Tube is a success and that the travelling public get the service they deserve."
