Unite Private Networks Announces Wide Area Network Agreement With Mesa County Valley School District

Fiber-Optic Services Will Connect All 45 District Sites

GRAND JUNCTION, CO--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2014) -  Mesa County Valley School District 51 (District 51) recently signed an agreement with Unite Private Networks (UPN) to provide fiber-optic services for the District. The 73-mile network will provide connectivity between all 45 District sites and the District's Technology Hub in Grand Junction.

"When completed, the network will provide enhanced educational services," said Odus Harwood, Executive Director of Technology Services at Mesa County Valley School District 51. "Our Schools will have virtually unlimited bandwidth which will enable our teachers to utilize video-intense programs, cloud applications and online testing, without the worry of slow internet speeds."

"This network will provide a full 10 Gbps of bandwidth that is sustained from each campus to the District's main hub, on a network that is designed to avoid any possibility of over-subscription," said Randy Wright, Director of Education Sales at UPN. " While delivering over 100 times the capacity and speed of the District's current WAN, it will also give District Technology staff far more control over their network."

Kevin Anderson, Chief Executive Officer at UPN, said once the fiber is in place it can be easily and cost-effectively upgraded if demand increases over the 10-year period of the Agreement. "The nearly unlimited bandwidth provided by fiber-optic facilities allows our services to easily and quickly expand as the needs of customers grow over time."

Phase I of the WAN is planned to be completed by late spring of 2015, and all sites will be in service by summer of 2016.
